- Fuels Removal by Hand Treatment in Lee Canyon #1, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. This will be an acreage-based contract for 171.3 acres of fuels removal. The project work requires the pruning, cutting and treatment of small trees and shrubs via hand tool techniques deemed most appropriate by the Contractor. Tree prunings, shrubs, and small trees will be hand piled in preparation for burning by the Forest Service, or chipped-in-place. Trees larger than 4-inches in diameter which have been cut in units will be cut in 3-foot lengths and neatly piled next to the hand piles, unless chipped-in-place. Until Final Acceptance of Unit or Work, in Units not scheduled for Chipped-in-Place, cut wood is property of Contractor. Upon Final Acceptance of Unit or Work, ownership of firewood resorts to the Forest Service which may permit removal. Option 1 would allow acreage not scheduled for Chip-in-place to be treated, (at additional cost), by Chip-in-Place methods. Solicitation will appear at this site on or before 05/21/09. A "Pre-bid" site visit will be held, meeting at the Lee Canyon Site, (see solicitation), on May 27, 2009.
