- Description
- The Government is seeking sources for the procurement and installation of electric firing cables and associated transmitter and receiver boxes to support the basic and advanced demolition curriculum of the Basic School located at Murphy Demolition Range, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The firing cables and associated transmitter and receiver boxes will allow instructors and students to fire demolition charges from set locations on the demolition range. The contractor shall fabricate and install eight (8) transmitter boxes on Murphy Demo Range. These boxes will act as a connection site for the blasters used to initiate demolition charges on the range. These boxes shall house between 2 and 48 pairs of industrial standard, color coded binding posts, be waterproof and of metal construction. All binding posts within the transmitter boxes shall be connected to the binding posts within the receiver boxes with double strand insulated electric blasting cable. This cable shall be run in plastic conduit between the transmitter and receiver boxes and will be buried to a depth of no less than 4 feet. The blasting cable shall have a resistance of no more than 5 ohms 10 per cent per 100m. The contractor shall install 27 receiver boxes; each containing two pairs of industrial standard, color coded binding posts. These boxes shall be a connection site for demolition charge firing cables. They shall be waterproof and of metal construction. Each receiver box shall be mounted on a concrete post 4 feet in height. The purpose of this post is to elevate the receiver box while protecting it from blast and fragmentation. Concrete posts shall be designed and installed in such a manner that they can be replaced if required. The award will be approximately $10,000 with an anticipated delivery date of 90 days after contract award. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation.
