- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SSC) Pacific are seeking information from potential sources that can provide commercially-viable technologies, equipment or systems for cleaning industrial surfaces and/or streets. Surfaces may be bituminous asphalt, concrete, steel or other hard materials. Surface uses may include, but are not limited to, industrial operations, equipment storage, parking or vehicle transportation. Surface profiles vary depending upon the substrate material type, use and overall condition. Surfaces are generally flat, but may have small uneven slopes or variations (e.g, channels, regresses for rail tracks, sumps with inlet grating) that allow for specific functionality or are required for water drainage and management. Surfaces are generally horizontal but can be at various angles including vertical. Surface areas to be cleaned vary from less than one hundred square feet to g! reater than five acres and require the ability to address smaller, confided spaces with limited large equipment access. Confined industrial surfaces may have obstacles such as hoses, electrical cables, pallets, scaffolding, containment enclosures or other stored/staged material that the technologies, equipment or systems shall clean, clean around, between or within as geometry allows. Technologies, equipment or systems shall be able to collect large solids (e.g., pebbles, fibers), small particles (e.g., dust, powders) and liquids (e.g., puddles of fresh water or salt water). Technologies, equipment or systems shall gather collected liquids and solids from the surface for disposal by non-human means. Technologies, equipment or systems shall be operable by a maximum of two individuals. Potential offerors are requested to respond with technical documentation supporting the commercially-viable technology, equipment or system, including: (a) general description, (b) cleaning mechanism description, (c) performance data, (d) type and particle size capability, (e) size (L x W x H), (f) weight, (g) human interaction requirements and abilities, (h) required resources, (i) capital cost, (j) operating cost, (k) processing capacity, (l) description of technology maturity or demonstrations conducted to date, (m) current commercial, industrial, or military applications, (n) quantity of systems sold or in use commercially, (o) company location, (p) manufacture locations, (q) rental or test equipment availability, (r) rental or test equipment cost, (s) waste management and/or treatment requirements. Technical, industry, or professional society certifications or endorsements should be provided, if available. The submittals should consist of no more than ten pages of text, including data and/or illustrations and are due by June 30, 2009. This synopsis is for information purposes and to identify potential technologies and offerors. This sources sought announcement does not constitute a request for proposal (RFP) and does not obligate the government in any way to purchase or test any of the potential solutions offered. Furthermore, it does not commit the government to pay for any information development of proposal costs in response to the sources sought announcement. Submit responses for this synopsis to Mr. Tracy Harasti by e-mail (tracy.j.harasti@navy.mil) or by mail to Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, Attn: Tracy Harasti, Code 634, 9500 MacArthur Blvd., West Bethesda, Maryland 20817-5700.
