- Description
- 1. Respondent Inquiry: Do you have a synopsis of the pertinent testing requirements per IEC Standard 60945 for us to design to, or can you provide a copy of the standard?Government Response: This is the international standard for maritime navigation and radio communication equipment. It regulates the level of interferences allowed by radio frequencies. 2. Respondent Inquiry: The secondary homing alertment is listed as 121.5mHz. What is the primary homing alertment? Is a receiver architecture already in place?Government Response: The only homing alertment expected is 121.5 mHz. The secondary alertment is the homing. Our desire for the primary means of alertment is to be via the VHF. 3. Respondent Inquiry: The GPS receiver is listed as 20 channels parallel. Is this a military chipset? Why are 20 channels required (accuracy or fix time or something else)? Would 12 channels be acceptable?Government Response: This is not a military chipset, but 20 channels are preferable because it provides a greater degree of accuracy to the GPS coordinates. Considering the expected purpose of these units, the closer the GPS tracks the survivors the better. 4. Respondent Inquiry: The GPS sensitivity is listed as -160dBM. Most commercial chip sets reference -160dBM in their spec sheets, but in reality they are -148dBM for a fix in 30 seconds. Is a military chipset available for use in the device?Government Response: There is no known military chipset. If -160dBM is not possible and none of the responses received meet -160dBM, then this would be addressed in defining any future requirements. 5. Respondent Inquiry: The schedule is listed as 1 May 2010 for prototype test articles. Is this a firm date that is tied to the expected release date of a purchase order?Government Response: If the government releases a purchase order, May 1, 2010 is the anticipated date that prototype test articles would be needed.
