Description
RFQ This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for supplies in which the government intends to acquire in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Mammal Laboratory located in Seattle, WA has a requirement to purchase components and parts manufactured by Linear Technology to make circuit boards for TAO project as follows: QTY LTC Part No. Description 1050 LT1019CN8-2.5#PBF Integrated Circuit - 2.5 V Precision Volt Reference in DIP pkg 1000 LT1034BCZ-1.2#PBF Integrated Circuit - 1.2 V Precision Voltage Reference in TO-92 pkg 1000 LT1054CS8#PBF Integrated Circuit - Switched-Cap Voltage Converter w/Reg in SO8 pkg 2300 LT1078S8#PBF Integrated Circuit - Dual Op-Amp in SO8 pkg 3100 LTC1044CS8#PBF Integrated Circuit -CMOS Switched Cap Voltage Converter in SO8 pkg 1081 LTC1047CSW#PBF Integrated Circuit -CMOS Dual Op Amp in WSO16 pkg 987 LTC1100CSW#PBF Integrated Circuit -Precision Instrumentation Amp in WSO16 pkg Background:PMEL maintains an array of buoys in the equatorial Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans for support of climate studies with an emphasis on El Nino prediction and monitoring. The TAO project is tasked with implementing and maintaining this array with the most accurate and reliable measurements of meteorology parameters, subsurface temperature, pressure and conductivity measurements. The TAO data, transmitted in real time via satellite, are used as inputs to a large variety of weather and climate analysis and prediction products, including El Nino - Southern Oscillation prediction models. The present ability to make seasonal to interannual climate forecasts for North America depends on the existence of, and the data transmitted from, the TAO array in the Pacific. International partners including Brazil, France and India, rely on data from buoys in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans for predicting weather phenomenon such as hurricane formation, rainfall pattern changes in Africa and South America, and the Southeast Asian Monsoon. These measurements use PMEL designed and built sensors that are secured to the mooring line and are attached to the surface buoy. These sensors communicate to instrumentation on the surface buoy which transmits the subsurface data, along with meteorology measurements, back to NOAA facilities via satellite. The subsurface instrumentation modules were custom designed by PMEL and incorporate a battery powered circuit board which will operate for 18 months on the standard compliment of three 9V batteries. This circuit was designed specifically to use these 7 Linear Technology components because of their performance, stability and low power consumption. These components use proprietary technology and are only manufactured by Linear Technology. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Only firms that can provide the exact components and parts described herein will be considered. A fixed firm order will be issued with delivery date of no later than July 20, 2009. All interested parties must respond to this announcement within fifteen (15) calendar days of its publication. This RFQ closes at 4:00 p.m. May 14, 2009. All responses must be in writing and may be faxed attention Maria Mendoza at (206 )527-7513 or email at maria.l.mendoza@noaa.gov. This is a small purchase action estimated not to exceed $100,000.00.
