INFORMATION: Marketplace Procurement Opportunities for Small Businesses: Wednesday, May 27, 2009, 8am-5pm, Sheraton Imperial, Research Triangle Park, NC. Regional Event Hosted by Rep. Bob Etheridge (NC 2nd District), Rep. Brad Miller (NC 13th District), and Rep. David Price (NC 4th District) in cooperation with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and The University of North Carolina's Small Business and Technology Development Center NC and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) NC. More than 50 representatives from federal, state and local government, military and civilian agencies and large prime contractors will meet one-on-one with small businesses at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The consolidated one day conference will feature seminars, multi-track breakout sessions and a keynote speaker. The breakout sessions will permit attendees to focus on how to sell to the government. Seminars will provide insights for both those new to government procurement and those with previous government contracting experience. Track 1 topics geared towards those new to contracting include Government Contracting Basics, State and Local Contracting, and Socioeconomic Preference Programs. Track 2 intended for those firms more experienced with contracting will cover Proposal Writing, Marketing to Agencies and Primes, and Subcontracting Issues. SBA will also discuss and provide information related to the Small Business 7a Loan Program and the Preferred Lenders Program (PLP). Pesent and future state and federal contracting opportunities including Recovery Act projects may be briefed at the conference. Also, representatives from many agencies and prime contractors may bring simplified acquisition requirements and ask small businesses to submit quotes. Contract awards may be made and announced during the conference. Registration is $50/person until April 30th, $60/person (May 1-26) and $70/person (at the door). Cancellations accepted until Wednesday, May 20, 2009. The conference will close at 5 p.m. Government agencies and large prime contractors interested in exhibiting at Marketplace should contact Mark Mills at mmills@sbtdc.org before registering.
