Description
Required Features • Must use a standard protocol (Cisco Compatible Extensions) CCX version 1.0 for tags • Must beacons using the standard 802.11 Desired Features • Tags have led's to show when they are beaconing or being acted upon by a chokepoint - very nice feature • Tags have push buttons to force them to beacon or send messages (these can store up to 15 messages that can be fired by push button or chokepoint). • Tags have replaceable batteries • Tags have mounting tabs • Tags have tamper proof capabilities • Tags have motion, temperature sensors. • Tags are very flexible with regards to their configuration (adjustable beacon rate, channel, power level). • Tags support Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technology using ISO 24730-standard. • Tags come in various different sizes/form-factor Use Case Scenarios Following are both a standard set of scenarios describing how we envision RFID tags to be used followed by examples of special cases where we might want to use RFID tags. Required 1. Affix a low cost tag either internally or externally to a low dollar asset that simply beacons on a regular interval. 2. Affix tag externally to personal portable property (i.e. microscope) to beacon both on a fixed schedule and to beacon more frequently when in motion to allow continuous tracking both indoors and outdoors. 3. Affix tag internally to a personal portable property (i.e. gas chromatograph) to beacon both on a fixed schedule and to beacon more frequently when in motion to allow continuous tracking both indoors and outdoors. Desired 4. Affix a tag to sensitive property that has a tamper resistant feature that causes a notification if the tag is removed from the asset. The tag should beacon both on a fixed schedule and to beacon more frequently when in motion to allow continuous tracking both indoors and outdoors. 5. Affix a small form factor tag to small portable property (i.e. Barcode scanners, non-wireless PDA, Cameras) to beacon on a fixed schedule and/or to beacon more frequently when in motion. 6. Affix a specialized form factor tag into non-standard equipment (i.e. shotgun) to beacon on a fixed schedule and/or to beacon more frequently when in motion. 7. Affix a low cost tag internally to "real property" (i.e. HVAC, chillers, fume hoods) to beacon only on a fixed interval as this property is fixed and never moves and is inventoried only every 10 years. 8. Is there a need for temperature sensitive tags? 9. Operator Person tracking: a. Tag worn by operator. Cause a tag to beacon when in 3' radius (proximity) of a chokepoint preferably including the name of the chokepoint or a preconfigured message. Location, time, and these supplemental data will be archived for incident review. 10. Item tracking for Project Teams a. Tag affixed to a mobile cart and possibly attached ad-hoc to item on the cart and tracked indoor/outdoor to provide chain of custody information in response to sensor information or reasonable cause, logic alerts if the two are separated or either or both move to or through unacceptable locations. b. Tag affixed to loan pool type equipment. Chokepoint causes tag to, upon exit of loan pool area, beacon a predefined number of times and change configuration of the tag to: beacon continuously on movement and on a short interval when at rest. Upon return to the loan pool area, the chokepoint causes the tag to beacon and change the configuration of the tag to beacon on a long interval and on movement. Potential Assets to Track Examples but not limited to Type of Equipment that would be nice to RFID Tag. Please use the following list as examples of required external/internal/embedded applications. Personal Property (Lab Equipment) • Amplifiers • Analyzers • Autoclaves • Balances • Band Saw • Centrifuge • Chromatographs • Compressors • Consoles • Controllers • Detectors • Electrometers • Furnace • Generators • Glove Box • Fume Hoods (can be both personal & real property based on type) • Lasers • Magnets • Mass Spectrometers • Microscopes • Oscilloscopes • Projectors • Pumps (can be both personal & real property based on type) • Radiometers • Spectrophotometers • Thermometers Sensitive Property • Shotguns/Rifles • Cameras • Camcorders Real Property (Facility related - Fixed Property) • Air Conditioning Units • Boilers • Chillers • Heat Pumps • Fume Hoods • Pump
