BROAD AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT TITLE: Sensor Technology Research, Development, Test & Evaluation Open-Ended Broad Agency Announcement (STROEB) II; Metamaterials for RF Antenna Applications Industry Day. BROAD AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT TYPE: Sensor Technology Research, Development, Test & Evaluation Open-Ended Broad Agency Announcement (STROEB) II, Call 2 BROAD AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: 09-01-PKS Call 2 TECHNICAL POCs: Adrienne Ephrem, AFRL/RYDX, phone 937-904-9949, email: Adrienne.Ephrem@wpafb.af.mil, Bob Simpson, AFRL/RYDR, phone 937-255-3802 x 3475, email: George.Simpson@wpafb.af.mil, Mail address: AFRL/RYDR, Bldg 620, Room 2 CX 89, 2241 Avionics Circle, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433-7320 CONTRACTING POCs: Lew Reed, Contracting Officer, Det 1 AFRL/PKSE, 937-255-5372, email:, Lewis.Reed@wpafb.af.mil, Postal/Hand Delivery address: Bldg 167, 2310 8th Street, WPAFB, OH 45433-7801, Fax: 937-255-8100 Address any questions pertaining to this announcement to the points of contacts (POCs) listed above. This announcement does not request any proposals at this time. The purpose of this announcement is to provide information on an industry day for the Metamaterials for RF Antenna Applications program (STROEB II BAA Call 2). The objective of this program is to demonstrate the utility of RF metamaterials technologies in advancing the state of the art in RF antenna technology. AFRL seeks to advance these metamaterial-based RF antenna concepts beyond proof-of-principle toward functional RF antennas well exceeding the current state-of-the-art. Three specific applications have been identified: (a) low-frequency antennas, (b) anti-jam GPS antennas, and (c) high-frequency telemetry antennas. For the low-frequency band (30-300MHz), the objective is to build an antenna that is significantly smaller than a standard antenna without sacrificing important functionality such as gain or bandwidth. For GPS antennas, the objective is to build a small jam resistant antenna capable of being incorporated into small UAVs. The vertically-polarized telemetry antenna must operate over the entire telemetry band (1.4-6.7GHz), have the capability to handle 70W peak power, possess a 3dB gain on the horizon to 0dB at the zenith and, ideally, be conformable to the airframe. The Metamaterials for RF Antenna Applications Industry Day will be held on 3 April 2009 from 0900 - 1300. Registration will begin at 0730 with the formal presentation beginning at 0900 at One Liberty Center, 875 N. Randolph Street, 14th floor, Arlington VA. The intent of the event is to provide potential offerors information on the program. The event will be limited to interested representatives of U.S. Government agencies and U.S. Contractors only. No foreign participation is allowed. Contractor participation will be subject to the same restrictions specified in the STROEB BAA. Entities/Firms/Organizations are limited to two (2) participants/representatives per entity/firm/organization due to limited space. If you are interested in attending, please register via the online registration site https://www.enstg.com/Signup/default.cfm?ThisCode=SEN37783. The registration deadline is Monday, 30 March 2009 and confirmation will be sent NLT Wednesday, 1 April 2009. Map information for the facility and local hotels will be provided within the registration site. If you have any questions regarding registration or conference location, please contact David Fishman at fishman_david@bah.com. The Conference May Contain ITAR Data. No foreign owned firms or foreign nationals are allowed to participate in this conference. THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR PROPOSALS DO NOT SUBMIT PROPOSALS AT THIS TIME ANY PROPOSALS RECEIVED WILL BE DISREGARDED
