III 3 Rutgers Plaza New Brunswick, N.J. 08901 ATTN: Gail Schmidt, Senior Buyer Phone: (732) 932-4375, ext. 2328 Fax: (732) 932-4390 Email: gschmidt@rci.rutgers.edu Date for receipt of proposals : Friday, May 15, 2009 The National Transit Institute (NTI) is seeking proposals from qualified professionals to facilitate its existing Introduction to Statewide Transportation Planning course. In addition, NTI may periodically request proposers to edit/update the existing course materials. NTI’s Introduction to Statewide Transportation Planning two-day course i s designed provide an overview of the state transportation planning process including tools, methods and best practices. The course covers the Federal regulations and differing state and local requirements, required products of the statewide planning process, the players and their roles. It also incorporates into the material the major elements of the plan and how evaluation methods and performance measures are used to implement the plan. Course participants include new planners, urban planners, FHWA/FTA field planners, DOT staff, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), Rural/Regional Planning Organizations (RPOs), Regional Development Commissions (RDCs), transit agencies, and rural transit operators. It also includes federal resource or regulatory agencies such as EPA, Federal Lands, and Tribal Governments, engineers and consultants. The secondary target audience includes local officials and other disciplines in a state DOT. Requests will be honored if received no later than Friday, April 17, 2009.
