- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR REPAIR OFAUTOCLAVE DOOR. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This noticeserves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will notbe issued.This modification is to attach equipment drawings, additional pictures of the lockingring, soil and foundation information, and facility drawings. The equipment drawings showthe equipment as it was to have been installed in Iuka, MS for another NASA project thatwas cancelled. They do not entirely represent the autoclave as it was installed in itscurrent location at the Marshall Space Flight Center. Facility details such as concrete,soil, power, gas and other facility hookups are shown on the facility drawings. Also,changes were made to the equipment that were not reflected on the equipment drawings.These include some valves, pneumatic lines, hydraulic lines, the door hinge supportpedestal, the door hinge bushing housing, the locking ring (portions of the ring weremodified during a recent repair attempt). The vendor is not being asked to make repairsto the flange or locking ring to correct any alterations (shown on the photos)performed by previous repair contractors unless the vendor concludes said repairs arenecessary towards repair of the door. This modification also clarifies the weight of the door as follows:1. 43 of 12x20x 5/8 tube steel = 5477 lbs. 2. Gusset plates, 1 thick steel 52.9 sq. ft. = 2158 lbs. 3. Closer plates, thick steel 10 sq. ft. = 204 lbs. 4. Support bracket on top,1 steel 6.16 sq. ft.=377lbs. 5. Spacer bracket on top steel, 19.8 sq. ft. = 605 lbs.6. New stand 1 thick steel 33.32 sq. ft. = 1360 lbs Total weight of the above items = 10181 lbs.This amendment is also to extend the date for when questions are due to 3/31/2009.Questions that may be generated due to this additional information must be sent to JanetAppleton at janet.l.appleton@nasa.gov.or faxed to 256-544-6560. Answers shall be postedon or around April 10th.This modification will also extend the due date for receipt of offers to 4/20/2009.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 2/24/2009.
