Description
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has a requirement for postgraduate medical residents, either PGY-2 or PGY3 to work at the NIH Clinical Center, located in Bethesda, Maryland. All residents must be credentialed by the NIH Clinical Center Board prior to starting work at the NIH Clinical Center. The contractor will be required to furnish all the necessary services, personnel, materials, equipment, and facilities not otherwise provide by the Government. The contractor will provide an estimated 80 hours per week (which includes the time spent on site "on call") of professional services for each postgraduate medical resident. The residents will be required to perform the following duties: (1) Provide primary medical care for the NIAID, DIR, clinical research adult and pediatric patients as assigned by the DIR Clinical Director or his designee. (2) Perform an initial evaluation on each new patient, including medical history (review of chart) and physical examination with six hours after the patients has been admitted to the NIH Clinical Center. (3) Enter admission notes into the Electronic Signature Application for each patient; and enter pertinent medical orders into the Clinical Research Information System. (5) Attend and participate in patient care rounds, attend lectures, and provide in-hours medical coverage. In addition, all residents will receive training on the NIH medical information system and clinical research protocols including (but not limited to) Privacy, Security Awareness Training, Electronic Signature Authentication and SISWEB for anesthesia requests. Each resident will rotate on call every 4th night; this will require the resident to stay in the NIH Clinical Center for a 24-hour shift. The total requirement is for an estimated 320 hours weekly and 16,640 hours yearly. NIAID intends to award a one-year cost-reimbursement type contract beginning on or about September 1, 2009 with the option for four additional contract years. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 541990: All Other Professional, Scientific and Technical Services. The solicitation will be posted to www.fedbizops.gov for download on or about April 1, 2009.
