Description
325 Building / Radiochemical Processing Lab (RPL) Seismic Upgrades 325 Building (RPL) Seismic Upgrades Introduction Battelle Memorial Institute (Battelle) in connection with Battelle's Operation and Maintenance of the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) at Richland, Washington under contract no. DE-AC05-76RL01830 is seeking General Contractors interested in responding to an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for seismic upgrades and related tasks in the 325 Building. The 325 Building is also known as the Radiochemical Processing Laboratory (RPL) and is located at the 300 Area, on the Hanford Site, in Richland, Washington. Building 325 is categorized as a Hazard Category 2 non-reactor nuclear facility, and will primarily remain in operational mode during this contract work. The Work consists of specific renovations as described in the drawings and specifications in the 325 Building. A Firm Fixed Price Contract is contemplated. The estimated range of cost for this effort is between $2M to $4M. General Work Summary Modular Shielding: Excavation for the modular shielded storage foundations, foundation placement, final grouting and leveling of the sole plates under direction from the fabrication / installation contractor in the 325 Building. Modular Hot Cells and Glove Boxes Integration: Selective demolition of walls, electrical, piping, ductwork, shielded glovebox and specific fume hoods in the 325 Building. Install new wall and doors; provide utility and service hook-ups for the hot cells and glove boxes. Includes excavation for the hot cell foundations, foundation placement, final grouting and leveling of the floor plates under direction from the fabrication / installation contractor in the 325 Building. Seismic Upgrades: Provide structural modifications to include strengthening connections, stiffening steel framing members, installing carbon fiber composite fabric to the basement walls, and installing steel bracing to mitigate deficiencies identified by the recently completed Seismic and Wind Evaluation of Building 325. Minimum Requirements In order for contractors to bid on this project, they must meet the following minimum requirements: • Be registered in the CCR • Be on Battelle's approved suppliers list - https://ebs.pnl.gov/default.aspx • Have a QA program meeting the requirements of NQA-1, 2000 Information Due Date Firms should submit an electronic letter of interest stating that they meet all of the aforementioned criteria on or before 5:00 p.m. PST on 4/1/09.
