- The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) has a requirement for a licensed General Contractor to perform minor alterations at its SEC Los Angeles Regional Office (LARO) located at 5670 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90036. This project requires the ability to contract with associated subcontractors to install supplemental air conditioning, and to perform electrical, minor drywall work, and flooring per engineered drawings. The SEC intends to issue a solicitation on, or about, April 01, 2009; will hold a Pre-Bid Conference and Walkthrough approximately 15 to 20 days after issuance of the solicitation, will conduct the bid opening approximately 30 – 40 days after issuance of the solicitation, award will be approximately one week after the bid opening; and, the Notice to Proceed will be issued within 10 days of Contract award The SEC LARO is currently experiencing problems related to air conditioning for its data closet rooms on the 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th floors. Currently, the existing air conditioning (AC) systems are ducted to the building’s plenum air, causing the room to overheat during off hours and weekends when the building air is turned off. The existing ceiling mounted AC units must be replaced with new ceiling mounted water cooled AC units capable of meeting the heat load demands of the information technology (IT) equipment. The new AC units must be connected to the building condenser water via an in-line pump. The operation of the data servers and voice switch equipment is critical to the SEC’s mission. Additionally, the SEC has a need for a Contractor to perform electrical and minor construction in anticipation of replacing the existing IT equipment. The Contractor shall perform the following alterations for the SEC LARO per the engineered specified drawings which will be included in the solicitation without charge: Install new ceiling mounted water-cooled air conditioning units and associated ductwork on the 10th and 11th floors; Install condenser water piping, valves and in-line pump to connect the AC unit to the building existing condenser water riser; Install Emergency Power Off (EPO) electrical switches in the data rooms on 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th floors; Remove carpet and install vinyl composite tile (VCT) in the10th floor data room; Provide electrical work necessary to support SEC's effort to replace existing racks/ equipment in data room on 11th floor. Unless otherwise approved by the SEC POC, all alteration work shall be performed after normal working hours (Monday-Friday 6:00 PM through 7:00 AM), during holidays or on weekends. The Contractor shall operate in a manner that does not disrupt any of the operational needs of the facility.
