Description
The Department of the Navy (DON) intends to procure 184 shipsets (368 Dual Pods) of the AN/ALE-47 Dual Dispenser Pods and attaching hardware, configured for the CH-53 aircraft. An AN/LAE-47 CH-53 Dual Dispenser Pod Shipset consists of a left pod, a right pod, left attaching hardware, right attaching hardware, four D-67/ALE-47 Dispenser Housings, four MX12023/ALE-47 Countermeasure Magazines, and two SA-2669/ALE-47(V) Sequencers. The AN/ALE-47 Dual Dispenser Pods were developed in a previous sole source prototype effort as a proof of concept to meet the new DoN requirement baseline quantity of 120 countermeasure expendables with forward firing capability. The Dual Dispenser Pod increases the number of expendables from 60 to 120 and also directs the countermeasures forward/downward in order to provide a more effective dispense pattern. This procurement is a 'follow-on' buy of the prototype design and includes final validation and support as well as delivery of the engineering drawings developed during the prototype phase. DoN intent is to satisfy an immediate operational requirement with Military qualified production hardware required for installations to begin eight months after contract award. Note 22 applies, this synopsis is for informational purposes only as the Government intends to award this effort on a sole source basis.
