Description
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in support of ProgramExecutive Office C4I, Submarine Integration Office (PMW 770) intends to awarda sole source contract under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) and FAR6.302-1 to Lockheed Martin Sippican of Marion, MA for procurement ofredesigned AN/BRR-6/6B Tow Cables Assemblies in order to support the Ship,Submersible, Ballistic, Nuclear (SSBN) and Submersible, Ship, Guided, Nuclear(SSGN) class submarine Fleet in achieving their missions. The primary functionof the AN/BRR-6/6B system is for strategic communications reception for thestrategic deterrent mission. SPAWAR intends to procure a firm quantity of 28AN/BRR-6/6B Tow Cable Assemblies with 28 shipping crates in Fiscal Year (FY)2009 under this proposed contract action at a total estimated price of$610,000. The contract will also contain one option for procurement of 50AN/BRR-6/6B Tow Cable Assemblies in FY 2010 at a total estimated price of$750,000. Lockheed Martin Sippican is the only contractor capable of delivering thishighly-specialized product to the submarine Fleet without unacceptable delays. TheGovernment requires delivery of an initial quantity of 10 AN/BRR-6/6B TowCable Assemblies with shipping crates no later than 6 months after contractaward. Any delay in delivery has the potential to adversely impact thesubmarine Fleet's strategic deterrent mission. It is anticipated this contract will be awarded in September 2009. The valueofthis contract is expected to be approximately $1,360,000. The NAICS code forthis procurement is 332999.
