Description
The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality ContractingCenter Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806- 5000, on behalf of PM IED Defeat/ Protect Force has a requirement for the manufacture of commercial Magnetometers. The Government requires a Magnetometer that provides the capability to detect the magnetic field of ferrous metals to include iron and steel. The Magnetometer must be a standalone device which includes an audible alarm and has the ability to increase and lower the volume of the alarm. It must have a clear and sharp visual detection signal that pinpoints the target and must also have individual sensitivity settings. The Magnetometer must operate by using two rechargeable batteries which shall provide at least 40 hours of operational life and display a visual battery life indicator. It shall weigh no more that 2.5lbs and is required to be between 40 and 45 inches in length. The Magnetometer must also be able to operate at temperatures between -13F and 140F and contain weather protected controls. The Government intends to fulfill this requirement via a 5 year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) commercial contract with an estimated maximum contract value of $9,038,900.00. It is the Governments intent to award this action on a sole source basis to Schonstedt Instrument Company, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), only one responsible source. It is anticipated that this solicitation will be posted on the US Army JM&L, LCMC Procurement Network website located http://procnet.pica.army.mil and https://www.fbo.gov/. Please note this notice does not constitute a Request For Proposal (RFP). The RFP is intended to be issued on or about 23 March 2009. The deadline for all proposals will be 14 days after issuance of the RFP.
