Description
The U.S. Maritime Administration, Division of Atlantic Operations Contracts Office, has a requirement for tugs/towboat, crew, supplies, fuel, and equipment to tow the ex-USACE “Snag Boat” ROS from a point near Selma, Alabama on the Alabama River to the James River Reserve Fleet at Fort Eustis, Virginia via the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, and connecting inland waterways except as needed to make connections between these routes. Background: The ex- USACE Snag Boat ROS (hereafter referred to as ROS) is a 170’ x 42’ x 4.5’ combination inland towing and crane boat designed for river service. A pedestal mounted crane with a 100’ boom on the forward end may effectively increase the overall length of the boat to up to 250, depending on the resting angle of the boom. The boat will be picked up for tow at a point near Selma, AL (hereafter referred to as Selma) and moved to the James River Reserve Fleet (hereafter referred to as JRRF) at Fort Eustis, VA. Due to the willow draft and relatively low freeboard of the vessel, an inland tow is required, except where short open water transits may be necessary to make connection with Intracoastal Waterway system. Complete specifications should be available as part of a Request for Quotation on this website not later than February 27, 2009. Attention: Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE's), the DOT short term lending program (STLP) offers working capital financing and the form of lines of credit to finance acccounts receivable for transportation related contracts. Maximum line of credit is $750,000 at the prime interest rate, as published in the Wall Street Journal, plus 1.75%. For further information call (800) 532-1169.
