- Description
- NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), in Greenbelt, Maryland, proposes toenter into a non-reimbursable Space Act Agreement (SAA) with a newly formed non-profitorganization, Maryland Science, Education, and Exploration Center at Goddard, Inc. (MDSEEC), for preliminary planning to assess the feasibility of locating a new Science,Education, and Exploration Center (SEEC) at GSFC. Work will include development of abusiness plan and site analyses. No appropriated funds will be available to MD SEEC forthis SAA. Upon completion of this SAA, the Center may decide to enter into a subsequentlong-term SAA for the development and operation of SEEC. It is anticipated that noappropriated funds will be available for a future long-term SAA. SEEC is envisioned tobe a future destination of choice in the Mid-Atlantic region to showcase Goddard andNASAs work. The vision for SEEC is a state of the art venue, located near or at GSFC, toconnect Goddards people, facilities and capabilities with students, educators andvisitors. SEEC is envisioned to be a non-traditional education center, providing thebeyond-the-historical perspective to show what is current at NASA and Goddard, andproviding dynamic programs, exhibits and interactive experiences to allow all toparticipate in Goddards unique work in action. If brought to fruition, SEEC wouldreplace the current visitors center. Once in place, SEEC is planned to be a non-profitself-sustaining operation without the provision of appropriated funds.Interestedparties are directed to provide expressions of interest and capability by March 10, 2009to Kristi Brown, Code 100, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland, 20771.
