Description
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to conduct a limited competition for the operation, maintenance, protection and certification of the U.S. floating dry dock SHIPPINGPORT (ARDM-4), located at the Naval Submarine Base, New London, CT. This requirement will be competed between Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (NGSB) and General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB). These two private shipyards are the only nuclear qualified and certified shipyards capable of performing this work. The contract will provide support during FY10 and have an additional four one-year option periods. The purpose of this special notice is to verify that both shipyards intend to compete for this requirement. Positive and negative responses are requested no later than 9 March 2009. Responses should be submitted to Alvin Hill at alvin.l.hill@navy.mil.
