Tour of General Atomics Facilities LOCATION: Bahia Resort, San Diego, CA OBJECTIVE: This event continues to support U.S. Department of Defense in global efforts directed at reducing the stockpile of excess and obsolete strategic, tactical, and conventional munitions. The Symposium features keynote speaker, Mr. Anthony Melita, Deputy Director, OUSD(AT&L), Defense Systems, Land Warfare and Munitions; Product Manager for Demil Updates; Headquarters/Program Reviews; panel discussions and exhibits. The agenda focuses on ongoing demil/disposal, resource recovery, recycling, and reuse operations and programs, sale of recovered demil materials, demil R&D efforts, transitioning technologies; and environmental, safety and policy issues that affect this business. THEME Demil Enterprise Strives for More Efficiencies in Munitions Demilitarization Program Registration is now open. CALL FOR PAPERS You are invited to submit abstracts on any of the following topics: Solutions to Munitions Demil/Disposal Challenges Safety/Environmental Related Initiatives Technology Developments/Emerging Technologies Innovative Use and Sale of Reclaimed/Recycled Material Component Reuse Initiatives Design for Demil Abstracts/Biographies Submit abstracts and biographies through the registration website NLT March 5, 2008. All abstracts should clearly describe the proposed papers content. Abstracts will be reviewed for technical merit, practicality, and relevance to the symposium. Preference will be given to those papers with substantial technical content, relevance to the event, and of significant interest to the global demilitarization community. Authors will be notified of accepted abstracts for presentation. Acceptance does not exempt authors from the registration fees. Presentations Instructions will be provided for accepted abstracts on how to submit presentations. Presentations are limited to 20 minutes including questions, and should be submitted in Power Point format with a font size that is clearly readable (e.g., Arial 20pt). Presentations must NOT contain any classified or proprietary information. All briefings should be reviewed through proper offices to ensure information presented is releasable to public audiences. TOUR A tour of General Atomics facilities and equipment is planned for Friday, May 15, 2009. Attendees must indicate their tour preference when registering online for the conference. REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND FEES To register for the 2009 Global Demilitarization Symposium and Exhibition, go to http://midas.dac.army.mil/symposium/index.html ATTENDEE REGISTRATION FEE: $50 The registration fee includes admission to the plenary and general sessions, exhibits, an optional tour and other administrative costs. The last day to register is May 1, 2009 and registrations will not be accepted onsite. Attendees will receive a conference packet with meeting agenda, attendee/exhibitor roster with their contact information, a conference identification badge and the Demil Symposium Proceedings CD (mailed after the conference). FEE PER 10x8 EXHIBIT SPACE: $500 Each exhibit space includes two complimentary conference registrations, fabric back and sidewalls, a skirted table, one padded side chair, and a wastebasket. Exhibit spaces will be assigned on a first paid, first served basis. Additional booth personnel must register and pay the full conference attendee fee.
