- Contract requires services of an Architect/Engineer (A/E) firm with specialized experience in design and construction of renovations within an active VA Medical Center including schematic design to provide design of Project 596-09-102, FCA Medium Voltage Equipment Replacement at the VA Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky. Experience is required for renovations in a 24/7 healthcare and medical environment and designing to ensure construction minimizes negative impact to existing medical center operations. This specific project requires schematic design, site investigation, final design, preparation of bid documents, and provision of construction period services for the subject project. This project includes replacement of Medium Voltage Metal-clad switchgear, S&C Pad mounted switchgear, and about four Pad Mounted Transforms as they have reached the end of life expectancy. Design to also include repairing or replacing Metal enclosed switchgear in the Chiller Building. Project design will clearly show work required, phasing of work required, and instructions to construction contractor regarding how to accomplish the necessary renovations in a 24/7 medical environment taking into consideration demolition, dust control, infection control, and specialized facility requirements as discussed with VA staff. Construction Cost range is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. Area of consideration is limited to a 50 mile radius of the Lexington VA Medical Center. Firms desiring consideration must submit THREE copies of SF 330, not later than 2:00 PM CT, March 26, 2009. This procurement is open to both large and small businesses. NAICS 541330. Contract award is subject to the availability of VA funds. A/E Selection criteria will include: 1) Team Proposed for this Project; 2) Proposed Management Plan; 3) Previous Experience of Proposed Team; 4) Location of A/E firm; 5) Proposed Design Approach; 6) Project control; 7) estimating effectiveness. 8) Sustainable Design; 9) Miscellaneous Experience and Capabilities. This is not a request for proposal. THREE copies of SF 330 should be mailed to Sherri-Lyn Teeters, Contracting Officer, Acquisition Service Center VISN 9, 1639 Medical Center Parkway, Suite 400, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
