Description
The USAF Academy, Colorado Springs, CO is conducting market research for a ground-based fast-tracking/steering telescope (FTT) and mount capable of accurately tracking satellites in orbit around the earth. This is NOT a request for proposal (RFP). No solicitation is being issued at this time, and this notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Any information provided by industry to the government as a result of this sources sought notice is voluntary. Responses will not be returned. No entitlement to payment or direct or indirect costs or changes to the government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses to the government. The information obtained from industry in response to this notice may be used in the development of an acquisition strategy and future RFP. Below are the preferred salient characteristics of the telescope. •· All-reflective telescope system (preference is a primary mirror size of 1.5 or larger) •· Precision tracking of low earth orbit satellites with low jitter and wobble •· Tracking at sidereal rates to within 1 degree of zenith •· High rate tracking within 5 degrees of zenith •· Azimuth over elevation mount •· Unguided auto tracking or command-guided operation •· Accommodates wide variety of instrumentation at Cassegrain, Bent Cassegrain, Nasmyth and/or Coudé positions All respondents are requested to indicate business size status in relation to the applicable NAICS code 333314 (size standard 500 employees). Also identify and address if your firm is 8(a), women owned, HUBZone, or otherwise classified as a small or small disadvantaged business. All interested firms are requested to submit detailed information outlining their capability to provide a telescope that meets or exceeds the above mentioned requirements. This should include specification sheets, estimated delivery date, and established price lists or estimate of cost.
