- Description
- The Government is seeking comments from industry on remote-controlled, tower mounted, integrated electro-optical sensor suite for Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment (RAID) tower applications. The RAID Tower Sensor Suite (RTSS) shall consist of an array of electro-optical sensors and devices in environmental/weather-proof housing(s) mountable to a 30 meter (100 feet) tall tower-top interface. The RTSS shall include a color daylight television (CDTV) camera system, a passive thermal imaging system (TIS) operating in the 3-5 or 8-12 micron bands (nominal), an eye-safe laser rangefinder (ELRF), and a laser illuminator/pointer. The RTSS shall provide integrated CDTV imagery, passive TIS imagery, ELRF data, and angle position (azimuth and elevation) data to the RAID System Ground Station (SGS) TerraSight" Manager to support target locating requirements. A Night Vision Goggle (NVG) compatible laser pointer/illuminator shall be provided to assist NVG-equipped soldiers operating within the RTSS field of regard. The Government has developed a draft RTSS specification that provides detailed performance requirements. The Government is seeking comments from industry on the draft RTSS performance specifications. Any interested party who would like to receive a copy of the draft RTSS specification should contact: Mr. Garin Tate, US Army Communication Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD), Fort Belvoir, VA at 703.704.1846 (voice) and/or garin.tate@us.army.mil. The Government requests all comments be delivered NLT 28 Feb 2009.
