Description
On February 27, 2009, the U.S. Department of Energys (DOEs)Geothermal Technology Program (GTP) intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to continue its partnership with the geothermal community to develop Geothermal Systems Research and Demonstration throughout the United States. The FOA will focus on areas associated with geothermal energy as outlined in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The specific sections under EISA related to geothermal technologies that are intended to be the focus of this FOA are sections 613, 614, 615, 616, 620, and 625. DOE will be seeking applications that present opportunities to expand geothermal power production beyond western states where geothermal power production currently exists, can start immediately and maintain an aggressive schedule for completion within 24 months, and can demonstrate job creation and maintenance. This Special Announcement is intended to provide potential applicants advance notice of an upcoming GTP FOA. NO APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH THIS SPECIAL NOTICE. Prospective applicants should begin developing partnerships, formulating ideas, and gathering data in anticipation of the issuance of this FOA scheduled for February 27, 2009.
