- The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a design/build Comprehensive Furniture Management Services to provide all labor, materials, tools, and supervision necessary to perform the requirements of Project 662-09-005 "Renovation of the Auditorium" (Building 7 Room 112) and adjacent areas (approximately 3500 SF) to result in a complete and usable facility of commercial quality. This includes architectural, interior, mechanical, electrical, acoustical and audio/visual design, all demolition, construction and furnishings. The CFMS architect/engineer will be the "the Architect/Engineer of Record" and as such, shall bear full responsibility for design, construction and quality control. The Auditorium Renovation should result in a facility that presents an image appropriate for the various Civic functions and Media Events hosted by the VAMC SF. The design must utilize an Emerging Technology Aesthetic and provide communication and audio visual technology that is user friendly and does not require a specially trained technician to operate. The system should include wireless Video Conferencing, Video Monitors, Projection Systems and Large Flat Panel Displays with appropriate Screen/Image and resolution to allow for comfortable viewing and reading of content appearing on the screen. The systems must provide 24-7 support, preventative maintenance and system review visits. In addition to the auditorium the project will include a Corridor/pre-function area, Food service holding/staging room, Storage rooms, Control/audio/visual/communications room, and mechanical/electrical room. Relating the interior design scheme to the Historic Architecture of the campus is encouraged. Use of energy efficient and "Green" design and materials is encouraged. Offeror's shall submit a Project Schedule as part of their response to this Request for Quotes. The schedule should address Design time, proposed coordination meetings and presentations for architectural, interior and audio/visual concepts. A Pre-Proposal meeting, which will include a site visit, it is scheduled for March 9, 2009 from 1:30pm through 5:00pm in the Auditorium (Building 7, Room 112). The meeting will review the RFQ, tour the areas to be renovated and answer questions regarding the RFQ. It is mandatory that parties interested in presenting a proposal attend this meeting. Firms that meet the requirements described in this announcement are invited to respond via email by close of business by close of business February 20, 2009 to the Contracting Officer, Karen Smith, at karen.smith3@va.gov.
