- Description
- VA Connecticut Healthcare System intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with the Georgia Cooperative Health Manpower Education Program located in Dublin, GA to provide a mental health education initiative (Support Team for Existing and Emerging Partnerships-STEP) aimed at providing assistance and support to VA clinicians and community based organizations. Services will include a multi-step training process by first developing a complete training plan; complete an initial training on the principles and techniques of the various program methodologies involved; meet with extended mental health service staff to orient the goals of the training and address concerns about program implementation; and provide on going monitoring. Also, if necessary, services will include conference, hotel and travel arrangements as well as other logistical and administrative responsibilities. Course content shall include, among other things: Recognition of mental illnesses often encountered in the homeless veteran population; Special attention to suicide risk and suicide prevention; Incorporation of relapse prevention as a component of substance abuse rehab services; Use of the recovery model approach to mental health and substance abuse services with an emphasis on engaging homeless vets in their own treatment plans and efforts toward self sufficiency; etc.This procurement is under the authority of FAR 6.302. Businesses who feel they may be capable of providing these services shall submit all applicable information to VA Connecticut by February 3, 2009. The information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of VA.
