Description
The Army Contracting Command (ACC) Joint Munitions & Lethality LifeCycle Management Command in support of the 40mm NL Ammunition Engineeringbranch at Picatinnys Armament Research, Development and Engineering Centeris investigating the use of pressure sensor mapping technology to assess the non-lethality of 40mm NL projectiles. This investigation consists of shooting a NL projectile into the sensor surface that is backed with a soft resilient material and obtaining pressure vs. time and area vs. time maps in a digital output format. The sensor shall be able to survive repeated low velocity impacts of various projectile profiles, operate in temperature extremes, and high humidity environments. The impacts will range in magnitude from 0 1000 psi and possibly higher. The sensor must be capable of obtaining pressure data with an accuracy of plus/minus 1 psi. Respondents must be capable of providing the sensor system and training in the proper use of the sensor and any associated software programs. This market survey is intended to find suitable technology to replace the clay block test (NIJ-STD 0101.04) in the evaluation and qualification of non-lethal munitions (M1006, M1012, M1013 and M1029). This sensor will be used to evaluate the performance of kineticenergy non-lethal rounds in development as well. All interested sources are encouraged to electronically submit their capabilities data in regard to the above no later than March 2, 2009 to the following POC: roger.tang@us.army.mil. All submittals should include company name, address, telephone number, technical point of contact, and brochures/literature. In addition, it is requested that interested firms indicate their business size status (Large/Small). Potential candidates should adequately describe their experience in pressure mapping technology. This announcement is for informational planning purposes only and is not a Request for Proposal, nor does it obligate the Government to issue a Request for Proposal. Please be advisedthat the Government will not pay for any information submitted under his announcement. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of he results of this survey.
