- The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the above titled project. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment in accordance with the contract provisions, specifications and drawings. The work shall include, but is not limited to, the following: This project consists of both interior and exterior work. Some portions of the work will be required to be performed at night to limit potential disruptions to air traffic control at the Decatur Airport. The interior work and exterior work can progress concurrently; however, the Contractor shall complete the exterior work prior to installing new finishes inside the building. Work that produces excessive noise or dust may be required to be performed after normal business hours which are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, 7 days per week. The major components of the interior portion of the project generally consist of mechanical, electrical, and architectural work. The scope of work includes the removal of an existing chiller and condensing unit, removal of existing electrical panels and feeder conductors, and removal of a small amount of suspended ceiling systems. A new chiller and condensing unit, new electrical panels and feeder conductors, and new suspended ceilings shall be installed. Also, there will be some painting and carpet replacement work. The exterior portion of the project generally consists of refurbishing the exterior building finishes and systems to prevent water and weather infiltration into the structure. The scope of work includes the removal of old roofing systems, windows, louvers, vinyl siding, and flashing, and the installation of new roofing, windows, louvers, and insulated metal panel siding including new flashing and sealant. Also, there will be handrail fabrication and installation, surface preparation and painting, caulk/sealant installation, temporary removal and installation of lightning protection cables and down conductors. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT. This notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has programs to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under DOT Short Term receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
