Description

The Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters Division, Patuxent River, MD intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Purchase Order with GE Aviation for the procurement and storage of an estimated quantity of 900 Controller Components (TC58NC350DF) of 8MB Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) cards. The items will deliver and ship in place at the Contractor's facility, Grand Rapids, MI. The Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA 209) has a requirement to protect production of the 8MB PCMCIA Card used in the PCMCIA Data Transfer Module (PDTM) for the ASQ-215 Digital Data Set. This component of the ASQ-215 is going obsolete and necessitates the immediate procurement of a life of type buy action. There are no other known parts that meet form, fit, and function replacement requirements. GE Aviation is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the ASQ-215 and as such, is the only source capable of procuring and storing these parts to protect the production of the ASQ-215. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition regulation (FAR) 6.3.02-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
