Description
The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions and Lethality Contracting Center, on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS), at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, is conducting market research for interested and qualified sources with commercial availability of 30mm X 173 Target Practice Discarding Sabot with Tracer ammunition. A contract is anticipated to awarded in the 2QFY10 timeframe. The total quantity of ammunition required is approximately 2,600. Deliveries are anticipated to begin in the 4QFY10 timeframe. This ammunition should be compatible with the 30mm MK 44 Automatic Chain Gun and match the exterior ballistic performance of the 30mm X 173 APFSDS-T ammunition to tactical ranges with a surface danger zone of less than 8 kilometers. The ammunition should also have a ballistic match of one (1) milli-radian with the tactical APFSDS-T ammunition for a range of 1.5 kilometers. The ammunition shall be packaged in two (2) individual 15-round belts linked with MK15 or equivalent links. The two belts shall be placed in a M592 metal container suitable to meet an expected Hazard Classification of 1.2C. In addition, the Government is looking to conduct a comparative test of the ammunition and will include evaluation of all integration issues with respect to the 30mm MK44 Automatic Chain Gun. Furthermore, roughly twenty pounds of propellant is required for evaluation. Companies with ammunition in production that would be available in the timeframe noted above should provide design characteristics and performance data. Responsible, interested sources are asked to submit their qualifications and capabilities including information such as test data and results, as applicable, on prior development and production history. Any responsible/interested sources shall submit the above information within 15 days of this notice to U.S. Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality Contracting Center, Maneuver Ammunition Contracting Center, CCJM-MA, Bldg 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. All information marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosures to non-government personnel and entities. The Government will not provide payment for any information provided in response to this market survey, nor will the Government return any data provided. All data will be for official Government use only. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. See Numbered Note 25.
