Description
The Directorate of Contracting (DOC), Fort Campbell, KY, anticipates an urgent requirement and is seeking sources for the following service: an Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist for Fort Campbell Schools, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. O&M Specialist must maintain appropriate credentials for O&M therapy in order to be eligible for award. The requirement is to provide direct and consultative services to Fort Campbell student(s) diagnosed as vision impaired or blind. The Specialist will evaluate and instruct the student(s) in strategies for getting around in school and in the community as appropriate. The Specialist shall maintain a good working relationship with students, staff and parents. They shall provide assessment of students to determine needs in the Orientation & Mobility area; Prepare and provide copies of assessment reports for Fort Campbell staff and parents; Participate in IEP meetings with Fort Campbell staff members and students parents; Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of designated student(s); Write and evaluate goals for the appropriate IEPs; Teach all relevant O&M skills and techniques; Provide information to Fort Campbell Special Education Director for ordering appropriate equipment for necessary training; Work with parents, classroom teachers, other related professionals, and paraprofessionals to ensure reinforcement of O&M training; Conduct any in-service or training which may be deemed necessary; Submit quarterly reports to Special Education Director updating each students current skill level; to be included as one section of the students quarterly progress report; Collaborate with teachers and parents to implement therapy by suggestions for each students classroom activities; Keep accurate and comprehensive records for each student receiving therapy; Furnish a written report to the students school within two weeks after last session of the year and prior to the annual review of students IEP; Suggest adaptive equipment needed for each student; Provide community based experiences in appropriate places as determined by the students CSC as well as facilitating independent skills of safe street crossing, problem solving and soliciting assistance; Be available for consultation with the Specialist from Fort Campbell Schools as needed. Period of Performance is 1 February 2009 through 31 December 2009, approximately 60 hours of service is estimated. Responses are due by 26 January 2009, 2:00 P.M. (CST).
