Description
The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is seeking a contractor to provide all labor, materials, transportation, supplies, equipment, tools, supervision, expertise, and incidentals to perform fuels reduction tasks in the Hilltop Campground region of our National recreation area. The project area is 90.60 acres, and the work requires the pruning to specification of trees, the cutting of trees scheduled for cutting, and the cutting to specification of shrubs scheduled for removal. Cut trees, limbs and shrubs will be hand piled. The material to be pruned, cut and piled is shrubs and small trees. Most trees are less than 14” diameter measured at 4.5 feet above the ground (DBH). In units designated as removal by Skyline Yarding Machinery, the contract requires the contractor to transport cut trees and chips to a Process and Storage Area approximately 5 miles from the Project Location. The contract period will be contiguous, and will occur at sometime between February and March, depending on weather and ground conditions. This pre-solicitation notice is for a unit-based performance service contract on approximately 90.60 acres, plus mobilization. All work shall be performed during daylight hours, and shall not exceed 10 hours in one day. Contract time is 60 days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Units in the Hilltop FS Campground need to be completed prior to May 1, 2009. Solicitation will be available, and posted at this site on or before 1/20/09. There will be a pre-bid site walk on January 28, 2009 at 0900 at Hilltop Campground. See solicitation for maps and details. Address: The project area is located on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest; Clark County, Nevada. The Project is approximately 21 Air Miles Northeast from Las Vegas on Highway 158 in and near the USFS Hilltop Campground. The project can be reached by motor vehicle by leaving Las Vegas on Highway 95 North to the intersection with Highway 157 East. Highway 157 leads to Highway 158. At approximate MP 3.5 on Highway 158 is the USFS Hilltop Campground and Angel Peak., Las Vegas, Nevada, 89130, United States
