- Workload/Usage 1. (Question) What are the peak transaction volumes either per minute or hour? How is the peak workload being determined today? (Answer) THE PEAK TRANSACTIONS ARE DURING 10:30AM - 11:00AM AND 2:00PM - 3:00PM DAILY. THE PEAK WORKLOAD IS DETERMINED WITH AVAILABLE SYSTEM RESOURCES. 2. (Question) Are there large fluctuations in the number or type of customers or transactions either on a repeating or random basis? (Answer)THERE ARE NO LARGE FLUCTUATIONS. 3. (Question) Are the web pages served to the end-user relatively static or is there a significant amount of dynamic data (database queries, feeds, etc) included with the web pages? (Answer)THE WEB PAGES ARE SERVED TO THE END-USER BOTH STATICALLY AND DYNAMICALLY. MOST OF THE PAGES ARE SERVED UP DYNAMICALLY. THERE ARE PAGES WITH LINKS THAT QUERY DATABASES FOR REPORTS, ETC. 4. (Question) Is there a high level of end-user interaction with some web pages, (i.e., filling out forms, selecting query parameters or updating data fields) or are most web page read only or read mostly? (Answer)YES, THERE IS A HIGH LEVEL OF END-USER INTERACTION WITH MOST WEB PAGES. 5. (Question) Are there any significant amounts of multimedia content on the web site? If so what type is it: audio, video, animations; and what products are providing it? (Answer)NO, THERE IS NO MULTIMEDIA CONTENT. Architecture Related 6. (Question) Can you provide a physical architectural diagram (specs) for the production environment? (Answer)PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED DIAGRAM. 7. (Question) What performance monitoring tools do you currently have on the application server(s)? (Answer)ANY SYSTEM RESOURCES AVAILABLE FROM THE OPERATING SYSTEM. WE ALSO USE EMPIRIX, TEMP ELERT, AND GLANCE SOFTWARE TO MONITOR THE SYSTEMS. Security and Data Access 8. (Question) Is the EAL application behind a security firewall and will we be required to drive transactions for the load testing through this firewall? (Answer)THERE IS A FIREWALL ON THE COAST GUARD NETWORK BUT NO INTERNAL FIREWALL WITHIN OUR BUSINESS AREA (AS LONG AS THE TESING IS PERFORMED FROM WITHIN THE COAST GUARD NETWORK). 9. (Question) What is data base size? Has this volume significantly increased recently?(Answer) THE DATABASE IS APPROXIMATELY 70 GB AND THERE HAS BEEN NO SIGNIFICANT INCREASE. THE DATABASE DOES, HOWEVER, STEADILY GROW. 10. Is there data encryption anywhere in the application? Will we need access to the encryption API to test the application? (Answer)THERE IS NO DATA ENCRYPTION. 11. (Question) Are there other web sites hosted on the same web server? (Answer)NO OTHER WEB SITES ARE HOSTED ON THE WEB SERVER. Hardware 12. (Question) What types of current databases are running against the application?(Answer) WE USE INGRES AND ORACLE DATABASES. 13. (Question) What specific type of equipment are you running on? Make/Models? (Answer)PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DIAGRAM. 14. (Question) Are there any backups/restores currently in place for the production system? (Answer)YES, WE BACKUP THE PRODUCTION SERVERS DAILY WITH DIFFERENTIAL BACKUPS AND WEEKLY WITH FULL BACKUPS. WE ALSO HAVE A HIGH VOLUME REPLICATION SERVER PLACED IN AN OFFSITE LOCATION FOR THE DATABASE.
