- Thermal Industry Day held from 18-20 November, hosted 53 individuals from the 24 companies representing their portfolio of products. The following answers do not represent the Government's definite position on any of the questions presented during the Thermal Industry day. It is to be noted that requirements may change between now and the posting of a synopsis. 1. Q: What quantities of HWTS-RV's do you need to meet the USMC requirements?A: Up to 5,0002. Q: What quantities would need to be delivered within one year?A: Up to 5,0003. Q: For the weapon mounted display, what would be the typical viewing distance?A: Approximately 12 to 18 inches4. Q: Is it the intention of the USMC to purchase the concept evaluation units?A: No5. Q: Will a class I laser require a block?A: No6. Q: What is the threshold requirement with firing?A: Approximately 10,000 rounds7. Q: Does the soft carry case (PALS) have to be Barry Amendment compliant?A: The PALS requirement will have specifications included in the RFP.8. Q: During CLS transition, how do you plan to get items needing repair back to contractor?A: The Marine Corps will send by traceable means units requiring maintenance or warranty repair at contractors expense.9. Q: Are rotatable (float) stock units allowed to support required CLS turn-around times? A: They can be.9(a).If allowed, should this cost be included in CLS set-up CLINS? A: No, the cost must be born be the contractor since this would require systems above the AOA.9(b).If not allowed, can contractor assume USMC will provide from purchased items for field returns? A: No, if a rotatable stock is used by the contractor it will be maintained at the contractors expense as part of their plan to meet turn around requirements.Q 10. Has the USMC or any other USMC units purchased any remote views to date to address the OBJ of the HWTS-RV?A: MARCORSYSCOM has not procured a HWTS-RV to meet this potential requirement.11. Q: Can we get an e-copy of your Presentation? A: The e-copy is posted with this amendment.12. Q: The order that you laid out:Bid samples---KPP evaluation---Environmental evaluation---User evaluationIs this the order that you use in Bid Sample Evaluation?A: No, systems are tested and examined in random order.13. Q: Can the head/helmet display have an external battery?A: Yes, but the weight on head or helmet cannot exceed the threshold requirement.14. Q: Is the battery for the head helmet display included in the weight requirement?A: Only if it is integrated in the head helmet sight.15. Q: Are all wires required to have a quick disconnect?A: Yes, a locked quick disconnect.16. Q: Would a wireless solution be considered?A: Yes, if a wireless solution is presented then an alternate wire source needs to be provided as well.17. Q: What is the requirement for the blue blocker?A: Per American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z136.1, there must be a safety interlock that prevents the selection of Class 3B laser by the user.18. Q: What are the directions for the user evaluation?A: Directions will be provided in a follow on RFI.19. Q: Does USMC PG13 write its own solicitations? If not who do you contact to write them?A: Yes, the Marine Corps writes its own solicitations contact concerning solicitations are only to be made to the contracting officer. Additional Questions will not be answered.
