- The USDA, Forest Service, Southern Region is soliciting quotes for Call-When-Needed (CWN) helicopter Services with companies whose home bases are located in the following states/territories: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Puerto Rico. The resultant contracts will consist of one (1) base year and two (2) option years. Obtain services of Type III Helicopters, fully operated by qualified personnel and equipped to meet specifications for use in administration and the protection of Public Lands. Helicopters furnished will be used to assist the Region 8 and Nation with Prescribed Fire and Fire Suppression and Aerial ignition and Fire Suppression helicopter services. Provide Type III helicopter, pilots, mechanics, and fuel trucks to conduct aerial ignition using Premo Mark III (ping pong ball dispenser) machines, provide observation/recon platforms and supply water drops for the control of wildfires and in support of prescribed fires. This solicitation will be advertised as a small business set aside. All responsible sources may submit a quote, which shall be considered by the agency. The solicitation will be posted to FedBizOpps on/or about October 10, 2008.
