- Description
- THIS IS NOT A NOTICE OF SOLICITATION ISSUANCE. The Naval Air System Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a competitive solicitation for a subsonic aerial target development program. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is planned for release in first quarter FY-09. The United States Navy (USN) has a requirement for a cost effective aerial target system to represent Subsonic Anti-Ship Cruise Missile Threats and air platforms. This Subsonic Aerial Target (SSAT) System will be used to support developmental and operational testing of naval combat systems while providing services in support of advanced fleet training. The SSAT will be a recoverable aerial target vehicle capable of realistically representing enemy threats that operate in the subsonic regime. The SSAT will be launch capable from ashore, at sea or by air and will be remotely controlled utilizing the System for Navy Target Control (SNTC). The USN anticipates the target program will award a contract for System Development and Demonstration (SDD) in FY-09. NAVAIR will host an Industry Day for the SSAT Development Program on 21 October 2008. This Industry Day will provide an opportunity for Navy leadership to brief the planned program to industry, and to review highlights of a draft specification and draft statement of work. The Industry Day will be conducted at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center, 44219 Airport Road, California, MD 20619. Attendees should plan to arrive between 0830 and 0900. Industry Day will begin at 0900 and briefings will continue through 1200. A question and answer session will be conducted after the briefings. One-on-one meetings for potential prime bidders will be scheduled for 21, 22 & 23 October 2008. The one-on-one sessions will also be conducted at Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. Attendance at Industry Day is limited to a maximum of 5 individuals per organization. To register for Industry Day and one-on-one sessions email Sue Banaszak at sbanaszak@camber.com. Responses shall include business name, address, attendee’s full name, and a point of contact phone number. Registration by telephone will not be accepted. Clearances are not required and all discussions will be unclassified. The deadline for submitting registration requests is 16 October 2008. The Navy will NOT assume liability for costs incurred by an offeror for travel expenses, presentations, marketing efforts or data offered for examination. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT, NOR WILL THE GOVERNMENT PAY FOR ANY INFORMATION SOLICITED OR PROVIDED. THIS IS NOT A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE AN RFP OR AWARD A CONTRACT.
