- The U.S. Department of Labor is seeking a qualified Design-Build contractor for the design and the construction of a phased renovation project for the Main Building (Building No. 1) at the South Bronx Job Corps Center, Bronx, New York. We are looking for firms that qualify under the Small Business Program mentioned in Federal Acquisitions Regulation Subpart 19. When submitting your response, please indicate under which programs you meet the critieria. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT for planning purposes only. NO SOLICITATION EXIST. Market research is being conducted to determine if there are small businesses with the capabilities and experience. The work consists of three components: mechanical/plumbing, electrical and architectural upgrades throughout the building. The mechanical/plumbing component comprises the installation of new HVAC system(s) to provide thermal comfort through the building. The electrical component consists of upgrades to the building's power supply to support the new mechanical/plumbing systems. The architectural component consists of historical restoration of the building's exterior stone envelope and roofs, such as to render it weather-tight. Building 1 has been listed as a Historic Landmark by the New York City Landmark Preservation Commission. Therefore, all work to be carried out on the exterior of the building is to be executed with due regard for its historical character and significance. The project has been designed by others under a previous contract and project title. The Scope of Work requires the Design-Build contractor to review the original design as a reference and evaluate whether or not it meets the requirements of the new procurement scope. The Design-Build contractor shall develop a set of Consruction-ready documents and specifications reflecting the current conditions of the building and all applicable codes and standards. The estimated costs is between $5,000,000 to $10,000,000. The estimated deadline for Request for Information is October 10, 2008.
