Description
In accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration Acquisition Management System (FAA AMS) paragraph 3.2.2.4 Single Source Selection Procurement Process, Subpart 3.2.2.4.1.2, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the FAA's intent to contract with a selected firm using single source procedures. The FAA intends to purchase a quantity of twelve (12) Very High Speed (VHS) long range laser distance meters, and enclosures to supplement the current eight (8)lasers on hand the expansion of the Taxiway Deviation Study. Currently the FAA possesses two (2) measurement systems, which were used at the previously studied airports, each consisting of four (4) laser distance meters. This study will be expanded to include five (5) systems at four (4) new airports. To accommodate the expansion of the study, twelve (12) additional laser distance meters (three additional systems) need to be procured to ensure that there is adequate coverage at each airport. Riegl USA Inc. is the only company is available to provide this type of equipment. Riegl USA Inc. supplied the previous meters that were used in previous studies. These meters will also be used in the expansion of the study and to maintaining consistency and integrity of the study it is critical that the same equipment be used at each airport involved in the study.
