Description
Intermodal and Ocean Transportation Services from Continental United States of America (CONUS) to Antigua/Ascension Islands and Azores The purpose of this synopsis is to notify interested parties that USTRANSCOM Directorate of Acquisition anticipates issuance of a solicitation to provide ocean transportation services for the following routes: The Contractor, a vessel operating ocean Carrier, shall provide transportation of lawful cargo by U.S. flag ships between points in the Continential United States of America (CONUS) as specified in CARE-SM II System and the, Port of Cape Canaveral, Antigua and Ascension Island. The Carrier shall maintain door-to-door service to Antigua and door-to-port service to Ascension Island throughout the period of the Contract via self-sustaining service(s). The Carrier shall provide Liner Terms in Antigua and CONUS and in stream vessel discharge in Ascension Island. The minimum acceptable frequency of service shall be a vessel call at Antigua and Ascension Island at intervals not to exceed sixty (60) days between deliveries/sailings. Actual cargo transit time will not exceed eighteen (18) days from Cape Canaveral to Ascension Island. The Contractor, a vessel operating ocean Carrier, shall provide transportation of lawful cargo by U.S. flag ships between points in the Continental United States of America (CONUS) as specified in CARE-SM II System and the commercial terminal in Port of Praia, Azores. The Carrier shall maintain regularly scheduled liner term service on this route throughout the period of the Contract via self-sustaining service(s). The minimum acceptable frequency of service shall be a vessel call at Azores at intervals not to exceed twenty-five (25) days between deliveries. Actual cargo transit time shall not exceed eleven (11) days from the last loading port in CONUS to Port of Praia and eleven (11) days from Port of Praia to the first discharge port in CONUS. The anticipated period of performance will be for one year with two one-year option periods. The NAICS code is 483111. This will be a competitive procurement. Anticipated issuance date is on or about 22 September 2008. No hardcopies of this solicitation will be issued.
