Description
The purpose of this modification is to: (1) Incorporate additional information for the following two focus areas for FY10: Information Security Metadata Formulation and Dynamic, Adaptive Security Policy Expression, Machine Reasoning & Learning; (2) Changing the FY10-13 recommended dates for white papers. (1) Under Section 2010, replace the “Information Security Metadata Formulation” and “Dynamic, Adaptive Security Policy Expression, Machine Reasoning & Learning” paragraphs with the following: 1. Information Security Metadata Formulation: Research & implement a method to link data and metadata within and across domains in a trustworthy manner using accepted standards for metadata labeling and Service Oriented Architectures. This effort includes gathering security policies for relevant domains into a standardized, appropriately accessible framework, potentially allowing for single-point configuration & assurance of multiple security domains. It also requires covering such problems as different infrastructure/authorities in one or more security domain(s) associated with the cross domain solution, differing releasability concerns, operational security concerns, and so on. 2. Dynamic, Adaptive Security Policy Expression, Machine Reasoning & Learning: Development of a standardized multi-domain security policy system to automate the approval of policies and transfer of appropriate data and metadata across and between domains. This centralized policy system should be easily and dynamically adaptable to create, enforce, maintain, end-of-life, and merge ('harmonize') policies for two or more environments/domains in a secure and trustworthy manner. These environments/domains may be hierarchical and/or non-hierarchical. It must be built with SOA, C&A process, and metadata labeling standards compliance. As this is required to be a SOA capability, it should not be reinventing capabilities present in the environments/domains it connects with, rather it should be leveraging those capabilities wherever possible. (2) Change the dates for FY10-FY13 white paper submissions to the following: FY10 by 21 Nov 2008; FY11 by 20 Nov 2009, FY12 by 19 Nov 2010 and FY13 by 18 Nov 2011. All other information remains the same.
