- Description
- The FDA Office of Testing and Research Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis is currently engaged in a critical path (CP) project to investigate advanced methods for in vitro testing of inhalation products. Results of this research will enhance the current FDA draft guidance document for nasal sprays and inhalation aerosols, which will assist Agency reviewers in regulating these products to ensure the availability of effective and affordable medicines to patients. This research requires frequent analysis of pharmaceutical aerosol samples using various techniques. The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a purchase order on a sole source non-competitive basis to The Washington University Research Department to provide aerosol generation and characterization services to support FDA CP Project “Advanced methods for in vitro testing of inhalation products. Description of Work: Provide scientific expertise and assistance with experiment design, instrument design/modification to address special application problems and data analysis. Generate particle samples within a specified size range (normally 1 to 20 microns) for method validation and instrument calibration. Provide particle size and velocity measurements using various instruments, including but not limited to: Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS), Aerodynamic Particle Sizer (APS), Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and 3-D hot-wire anemometer. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTES. All responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered. A determination to compete this procurement based on response(s) to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The FDA intends to make an award immediately after the response date of this notice. The award will be made in accordance with Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
