- The USDA, ARS, Western Regional Research Center, Albany, California has a requirement for a modular metabolic monitoring system with a cage configuration of individual chambers that will accommodate up to 4 mice. Monitoring system shall include computer interface and software to monitor gas consumption, food/water consumption; calculates energy exchange and respiratory quotient; food and drink consumption; provides indirect calorimetry with oxygen consumption, accuracy 0.01% and CO2 production, accuracy 0.01%; food consumption, +/- 0.2g and water consumption, +/- 0.1 g. System to measure respiratory metabolism (O2 consumption and CO2 production), respiratory quotient (O2/CO2), respiratory exchange rate, food and drink intake, and activity and rearing. System to evaluate respiratory metabolism by means of indirect calorimetry to enable the monitoring of CO2 production and O2 consumption as well as the calculation of related physiological parameters such as respiratory quotient, energy exchange, etc. System must include food and drink monitoring software (calculates food and water ingested at each meal, meal duration, number of meal intervals, intervals between meals, etc.), and recording/analysis that continuously records activity/movement by means of infrared beams. This solicitation incorporates the following commercial FAR clauses by reference 52.212-1, 52.212-2, 52.212-3, 52.212-4, and 52.212-5. Funds are not currently available for this acquisition and award will be made subject to the availability of funds.
