Description
The USDA, ARS, Western Regional Research Center, Albany, California has a requirement for a real-time quantitative PCR (QPCR) instrument that is capable of measuring fluorescence at 4 wavelengths from a 96-well plate during the PCR cycling reaction. This instrument must support a 96-well plate format with 10 – 50 ul reactions and use a quartz tungsten halogen lamp for excitation to deliver light from 350 nm to 750 nm wavelength range to support greater dye flexibility. The QPCR must have four (4) narrow band-pass excitation filters and four (4) narrow band-pass emission detection filters; must use coaxial fiber optic bundles to simultaneously deliver excitation light and detect fluorescence emission light from the dye/sample thus minimizing signal loss and decreasing fluorescence signal noise. Instrument must use photomultiplier tube to ensure superior signal-to-noise ratio which leads to increased sensitivity for detection of low copy number targets and detection across ten (10) orders of magnitude of the dynamic range in target concentration; both of these capabilities allow the instrument that does not require recalibration to run plates with changes in volumes, new dyes in single or multiplex reactions, well-factor corrections, or any correction/calibration for optical variations. The QPCR system and software is sufficiently flexible to support multiple QPCR detection chemistries including: SYBR Green, TaqMan probes, molecular beacons, etc. This system must be completely self-contained, with the exception of a computer. The software to control this system is included and can be mounted on any computer, as necessary, for remote analysis. This solicitation incorporates the following commercial FAR clauses by reference 52.212-1, 52.212-2, 52.212-3, 52.212-4, and 52.212-5. Funds are not currently available for this acquisition and award will be made subject to the availability of funds. Interested vendors are encouraged to submit proposals containing descriptive literature (refer to FAR 52.214-21) of their products to Clarice Dixson, USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Western Regional Research Center, 800 Buchanan Street, Albany, CA 94710 or by e-mail to Clarice.Dixson@ars.usda.gov no later than 4:00PM PDST September 15, 2008.
