Quantity of 12,700 each, 48x 48 Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Polymer (UHMWPE), 5 Pounds Per Square Foot (PSF) Panels made from one of the following materials: a. HONEYWELL 2164 (SPECTRA SHIELD II SR 3124, molded at high pressure) b. HONEYWELL 2164 (SPECTRA SHIELD II SR 3124, molded at low pressure) c. HONEYWELL 2091 (SPECTRA SHIELD SR 1214) d. DSM 2038 (DYNEEMA HB 2) (high or low pressure molding) e. DSM 2013 (DYNEEMA HB 26) (high or low pressure molding) f. DSM HB 25 (DYNEEMA HB 25) (high or low pressure molding) g. BAE TENSYLON (high or low pressure molding) Materials used shall be in accordance with the manufacturers materials specifications for ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fabrics and their specific resin matrices. The materials shall be free of defects which adversely affect performance or serviceability of the finished product. The final plates of these materials are manufactured by several processes from layers of UHMWPE fibers combined with polymeric matrices. The layers or plies can be constructed from different yarns, different resin matrices and differing ratios of reinforcement to matrix weights. Companies are encouraged to forward availability of materials, pricing, and best delivery schedules that will provide the Government with the ability to determine the adequacy of the offered product for meeting the market research request. The Government must be able to make an adequacy determination based on the literature provided and will not accept hardware samples at this time. This Sources Sought announcement serves as Market Research only. This is not to be considered a firm commitment on the part of the Government nor does it constitute an order. All responses should be received by 1530 (3:30 pm) CST on 03 SEP 2008. Responses should be sent to: Brandon K. Stevens, Email: brandon.k.stevens1@us.army.mil, FAX: (309) 782-0458, Telephone: (309) 782-2374.
