- The Joint Munitions Center, Life Cycle Management Command Special Projects Officer is seeking sourcesfor the following: The contractor shall conduct a feasibility study to explore integration of twin50mm EAPS cannons, feed system(s) and related fire control components into an autonomously controlled(unmanned) gun mount/turret. Modification of an existing mount is preferred over new development.Part of this effort shall be to provide engineering support to the EAPS program IPT as well as toassist the government in finding a suitable gun mount to use for testing under a bailment agreement. The gun mount/turret shall be unmanned and autonomous, capable of a continuous 3600 rotation inazimuth and -100 to +850 in elevation. The gun mount/turret traverse rate shall be a minimum of120-deg/sec and 90-deg/sec in elevation. The weapon system consists of two 50mm EAPS cannons. Eachgun weighs 750+/-50 lbs with a power requirement of 5HP, and is 164 in length. Maximum weaponimpulse load is 400 lbf-sec. The system shall fire 5-10 rounds per engagement (total for both guns)at a combined rate of 400spm. The ammunition has a 55mm diameter (cartridge base) x 538mm long and weighs 6.4 lbs. For this study the feed system only needs to store and feed 10 rounds per gun. Thefire control system consists of a ATS radar, with 1 transmitting and 3 receiving antennae, that shallbe mounted to the gun mount/turret. The contract deliverable shall be a Final Technical Report (DI-ADMN-80447) that shall include conceptdescriptions, trade studies, Pro-E compatible solid models of the concept and weight budget. TheEAPS gun mount/turret study shall be completed no later than 4 months after award of this task withsupport to the IPT for one year. Information submitted should be pertinent and specific in the technical area under consideration, oneach of the following qualifications: (1) Experience: An outline of previous projects, specific workpreviously performed or being performed and any in-house research and development effort;(2) Personnel: Name, professional qualifications and specific experience of scientist, engineersand technical personnel who may be assigned as a principal investigator and/or project officer;(3) Facilities: Availability and description of special facilities required to perform in thetechnical areas under consideration. A statement regarding industry security clearance. Any otherspecific and pertinent information as pertains to this particular area of procurement that wouldenhance our consideration and evaluation of the information submitted.
