- Description
- The USGS intends to award a sole source basis purchase order to Probe Software, Inc., Eugene, OR 97405. Only Probe Software possesses the required software licenses for the needs described below. USGS Western Region Electron Beam Facility requires a unique quantitative system package composed of software, hardware and training that are optimized for earth science applications. The system package must interface with existing USGS UNIX HP 2600 workstation. System will utilize recently developed state-of-the-art analysis methods such as background subtraction for trace element analysis, in-run beam current and voltage variation. System maintains proven JEOL stage electron optics and spectrometer system controllers. There is no other upgrade of this kind. System requirements are: Hardware - PC requirements with windows XP Professional (32 bit only), Pentium IV 2.8 GHz or faster CPU, 160 GB hard disk with at least 4 GB free disk space, 1 GB RAM, cordless IR mouse, 3.5 floppy drive and internet connection, two 21: color monitor (1600 x 1200 x 64K colors, interfacing wit JEOL UNIX/HP B2600 and OS9 console system controller or EPMA must work through TCP/IP protocol. Video signal must be tapped from video card or monitor (BNC) connection. Software must communicate with HP/UNIX in order to control spectrometers (WDS and EDS), stage, and electron optics. Software - Upgrade must be able to run off-line from another computer and be able to re-process previously acquired x-ray intensity data rather than re-process on the EMP workstation. These extra copies must be provided at no additional cost to the Government. Must include interactive support for troubleshooting problems and customizing/modifying existing programs as needed. Software must include element correction calculations as follows: Peak overlap interpretation, Quantitative spectral interference correction for both major and trace element analysis using a matrix corrected and iterated methodology that is accurate for overlap situations. Trace elements with large overlaps must be successfully extracted from quantitative measurements. System must include automatic correction for standard drift in real time using linear interpolation standards, interference and mean atomic number background intensities for long duration runs. System must have the ability to interpolate between standardizations in order to correct intermediate analyses on unknown for linear drift so that all concentrations are accurately calculated. Must possess mean atomic number background correction. System includes Microprobe acquisition, automation control, quantitative analysis over TCP/IP: Manual acquisition system module, quantitative analysis system module, automation system module, plot/output system module, standard database software, off-line calculation and modeling software, standard evaluation software, calibrate utility, state digitization utility, state/spectrometer/counter utility, user database usage and search utility, instrument monitor utility, context sensitive on-line help, PFW Getting Started and Advanced Topics Manuals, network TCP/IP eight port RJ-45 style hub. Golden Software: Grapher and Surfer Data visualization Software; Installation/Training, three days; Advanced Training, two days; Dell Precision T3400 including Intel Core2 Duo E4600 (2.40GHZ/800MHz/2MB), Genuine Windows XP Professional, SP2 with Media, 3 year basic limited warranty and 3 year NBD On-site service, 512MB PCle x16 nVidia Quadro FX1700, dual monitor DVI Capable FX1700, Desktop chassis Orientation w/1394 Card, 2GB, 667MHz, DDR2 SDRAM Memory, ECC (2 DIMMS), 16XDVD and 16XDVD+/RW, w/Cyberlink, 250GB SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ and 8MB, Broadcom NetXtreme 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet controller-PCI, Express card, USB Entry Quietkey, No Hot Keys, Dell USB 2-button Optical Mouse wit Scroll, Dell AS501 Sound Bar for all UltraSharp Flat Panel, 30" Ultra Sharp Dell Monitor. This acquisition is not a Small Business Set Aside. FOB: Destination. Delivery to USGS Menlo Park, CA. Anticipated award date: 31 July 2008. Responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
