Description
On 16 July 08 a site visit was conducted for interested parties regarding this solicitation. The attendance list is attached for information purposes. Issues/questions raised regarding details of the Statement of Work and the Government's answer to them are given here. 1.Q: Do you want an automatic or manual shaker on the collector? A: Automatic. 2.Q: How high above the floor do you want these ducts to be? A: 10 feet to the underside of the ducts will be adequate. 3.Q: Where do you want these floor sweep ducts placed? A: The floor sweep duct on the west wall should be no closer than 100" from the center line of the panel saw. There is no placement preference for the duct on the east wall, except that it must not interfere with the door there. 4.Q: Putting an intake hose or duct on the panel saw will make using it very difficult. Are you sure you want one on that saw? A: Do not install a collector/intake on the panel saw. The floor sweep intake will suffice for that tool. 5.Q: There is already an intake hood on the radial arm saw. Will that stay, or are we to replace it? A: The current hood will stay. The contractor is only required to connect ducting to the new collector duct system. 6.Q: The solicitation says Holloman Engineers will provide electric hookup. Specifically, what elements of hookup will Holloman provide? A: Holloman Engineers will provide the following; 208V, 30Amp, 3-phase electricity service. That service is currently run to the existing collector, and the control switch for the current system is attached to the building wall directly behind the existing collectors. Running electrical power from the currently mounted control switch through the building wall to the outside, providing and installing an outside-mounted master switch, physical connections, and weatherproofing of the penetration and connections is the contractor's responsibility. As currently wired, any time any of the woodworking machinery is turned on, the collector system activates. This arrangement should not be affected by installation of the new collector system. 7.Q: The solicitation says Holloman will provide the concrete pad for the new collector. How do we coordinate getting that pad poured? A: Holloman Engineers will indeed provide the collector pad. In order to shorten the time to have this accomplished, all bids/quotes/proposals must contain specifications of the collector's height, dimensions, weight, size, footprint, and details of how it is to be mounted or connected to its base, clearance required from buildings and other obstructions, and anything else that might affect operation or maintenance due to proximity of the collector to Bldg. 311. Upon selection and award, the Holloman Contracting office will pass that information to Engineers for coordination and execution of pad installation. 8.Q: Will the submission date change because of the time required to confirm answers to a couple of these questions? A: Yes. The revised date for submission of quotes/bids is now 1200 Mountain Daylight Time, 31 July 08.
