- THE UNITED STATES ARMY TACOM LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT COMMAND (LCMC) IN WARREN, MICHIGAN INTENDS TO ISSUE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS FOR A FOLLOW-ON CONTRACT ACTION/MODIFICATION TO EXISTING CONTRACT NUMBER W56HZV-07-C-0299 WITH ENERGID TECHNOLOGIES OF CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS FOR THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY ALREADY DEVELOPED UNDER THE BASIC CONTRACT, HEREIN DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: INTEGRATION OF THE HAPTICS (TOUCH/SENSATION)-OPTIONAL SURGICAL TRAINING SYSTEM (HOSTS) MEDICAL HIGH FIDELITY SIMULATION MODELS AND KINEMATIC CONTROL SYSTEM WITH THE ENERGID-DEVELOPED ACTIN (TM) SOFTWARE TOOLKIT IN ORDER TO ENABLE COORDINATED CONTROL OF THE BATTLEFIELD EXTRACTION AND RETRIEVAL (BEAR) ROBOT TORSO'S DUAL MANIPULATORS. THE MODIFIED ACTIN (TM) SOFTWARE SUPPORTS MODELING, SIMULATION AND CONTROL OF THE BEAR ROBOT'S UPPER TORSO AND DUAL HYDRAULIC MANIPULATORS. ENERGID HAS DEMONSTRATED THE ACTIN (TM) SOFTWARE FOR CONTROL OF THE BEAR'S DUAL HYDRAULIC MA! NIPULATORS, OPERATING FIRST AS A STATIC SYSTEM AND THEN IN A DYNAMIC OPERATIONAL MODE. CONTRACT TASKS INCLUDED CREATING/DEVELOPING BEAR MODELS AND SIMULATION SOFTWARE, DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE BEAR MANIPULATION CONTROL, DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF POSTURE CONTROL, SUPPORTING BEAR OPERATION CONTROL INTERFACE, BEAR SYSTEM CONTROL INTEGRATION, DEVELOPING MODELS AND SIMULATION FOR PLANAR TERRAINS, AND PERFORMING FUNCTIONAL AND SIMULATION DEMONSTRATIONS OF THE BEAR ROBOT CONTROL FOR OPERATION ON PLANAR TERRAINS. THE PROPOSED ADDITIONAL WORK EFFORT FOR THIS CONTRACT, IN THE ESTIMATED COST PLUS FIXED FEE AMOUNT OF $325,000, INCLUDES FURTHER CONTINUING THE CONTROL WORK ALREADY PERFORMED WITH UPDATED MODELS FOR GRASPING AND LIFTING, DEVELOPING/PROVIDING "POINT AND CLICK" CAPABILITES WITHIN THE SOFTWARE TO PERFORM MORE COMPLICATED TASKS SUCH AS OPENING DOORS, ETC., DEVELOPING LOWER BODY CONTROL OF THE BEAR ROBOT IN ADDITION TO THE UPPER TORSO CONTROL ALREADY BEING DEVELOPED, ! PROVIDING AN INTEGRATED SOFTWARE SOLUTION WITH SOLIDWORKS AND ENERGID'S ACTIN (TM) PLUG-IN AS A DELIVERABLE, PROVIDING SUPPORT SERVICES FOR GOVERNMENT-PERFORMED FIELD EXPERIMENTATION AND TESTING, AND THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR THIS PROPOSED NEW EFFORT IS EXPECTED TO BE 14 MONTHS IN DURATION. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE RFP FOR THIS PROPOSED ACTION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON OR ABOUT 14 JULY 2008, WITH THE PROPOSAL DUE 30 DAYS THEREAFTER, OR APPROXIMATELY 13 AUGUST 2008.
