- Description
- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking small businesses only that can provide FDA with a Freeze Drying Microscope System. Please see attachment for description of line items. This Freeze-Drying Microscope will give us the exact temperatures to be used during lyophilisation cycle. The unit will be used in Phase 2 of the renovated lab. This unit will be used in the preparation of References and reagents for seasonal and potential pandemic and influenza vaccines and other biological products. This unit shall identify the key parameters of a formulation pre¬ lyophilisation which will make the lyophilisation cycle more efficient. During lyophilisation, the primary drying stage is important. The critical parameters of a formulation such as its eutectic or collapse temperature are important to quickly develop efficient and effective freeze-drying cycles. The system shall consists of various components; the stage chamber where small amount of sample (microlits) is loaded, this part of the system is like a freeze dryer. With the programmable temperature control the sample is frozen. The system shall be supplied with a liquid nitrogen cooling system. The temperature ranges from -196°C to + 1250C. During the lyophilisation the temperature of the chamber can be varied which will let us know at which particular temperature the sample will melt. The system's high resolution imaging system shall capture Real-time images of the sample during freeze drying along with the sample's temperature and the chamber pressure. The vendor shall provide a Validation Support Package in addition to a complete operations manual, which is required as part of a quality system. All questions are to be submitted via email to patricia.wright@fda.hhs.gov no later than July 14, 2008 1:00 PM EST. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED. This is a REQUEST FOR QUOTATION (RFQ). This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a written solicitation will not be issued. All quotations are due, via email to: patricia.wright@fda.hhs.gov no later than 2:00pm, EST by the response date. FDA anticipates an award soon after the response date. Evaluation/Award will be based on the technically acceptable quote that offers the best value to the Government. The award will be made in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures
