- The Contractor will be responsible for the preparation of technical reports describing characteristics and trends in stream insect community structure, including composition on the genus level with notes made on species present bearing particular significance with respect to indication of water quality, impact on aquatic life, and/or other matter warranting specific attention and detail as needed. Reports of like format and organization of material will be prepared for each of 20 Louisville District reservoir Lake Projects using insect data collected over the past 10 years or so from 1997 to 2007. Variations may occur depending on sample effort limitations encountered on a year to year basis. However, the reports are to be as inclusive as possible given stated objectives. The reports are to be written for understanding and appreciation by the non-scientific community having an interest in stream insect community structure and implications regarding stream water quality associated with their respective Lake Projects. This includes identification of spatial and temporal variations in composition and abundance. The reports are to be well illustrated with colorful figures and tables as primary means of data display with well-written, easy to read text describing ecological implications and value in terms of indicating water quality conditions. The reports are to be appropriately prepared and bound to attract the attention of interested readers, from the 7th grade up, and survive being handled as such. A template report should be initially prepared for review by the Contractor and presented to the Government for final approval. The final and accepted template report will be used as guide in report preparation for all Louisville District Lake Projects. Reports will be utilized by personnel at each respective Lake Project for information dissemination to the general public.
